For years I have been a major TED fan. For those of you who aren’t “TEDucated,” TED is not some guy I have a crush on… or some famous rock star… TED is an organization whose mission is to instigate and promote “ideas worth spreading.” Now its famous conference and website are where some of the most inspiring, innovative, incredible minds on the planet share their passions, viewpoints, and accomplishments through their talks.
So anyway, yes, I am a TED groupie. Without fail, I weekly hit ted.com to get my dose of motivation, laughter, and a-ha moments.
So you can imagine my surprise and elation when I was asked to do a TED talk!
It was a sincere honor to be invited to share my experience and perspective as it relates to children, the obesity crisis, and my thoughts on how to achieve a solution. Well, more like a dream-come-true opportunity and a don’t-pee-in-your-pants-intimidating task: Change the world. Reveal your soul. Throw in some wit. Don’t forget the wisdom. In 18 minutes or less. Oh, yeah, and no pressure.
Here’s my talk, if you’d like to see it… it’s called “Motivating Kids to Shape the Future.” Hope you enjoy!
The TEDx event was titled “Where Teens Fit” and sponsored by MindSteam Academy, a co-ed boarding school where teens achieve healthy weight and build self esteem. Also speaking at the TEDx event was the prolific pioneer Dr. David Katz, along with neuroscientist and author Dr. Howard Rankin, author and happiness expert Todd Patkin, and Biggest Loser winner Patrick House. It was quite an illuminating event filled with well balanced food for thought.
Please peruse through all the talks from the event… and all through the TED site… but don’t blame me if you, too, become a TED groupie!
Wishing you continued health, happiness, and all things good…
